【主要用途】：硫酸钡可用于医疗方面，放射学检查使用硫酸钡剂主要利用其在胃肠道内可吸收 X 射线而使其显影作用，因此主要用作胃肠道造影剂。工业上，可用作油漆、油墨、塑料、橡胶及蓄电池的原料或填充剂，印像纸及铜板纸的表面涂布剂，纺织工业用的上浆剂。玻璃制品用作澄清剂，能起消泡和增加光泽的作用。还用于陶瓷、搪瓷、香料和颜料等行业。也是制造其他钡盐的原料。
